Join American Indian/Indigenous Student Initiatives and Women Student Initiatives for a creative workshop on Star Quilts. Star Quilts are a culturally significant creative art primarily originating from Northern Plains tribes such as the Lakota and Dakota. Receiving a star quilt is one of the highest honors for Indigenous Peoples. This workshop with be led by Martina Necklace, a local Dakota artist and entrepreneur. Come learn about the history and significance of star quilts and how to make your own. All are welcome to come, learn and observe, however, due to the cultural significance of this art form we ask that the creation of star quilts during this workshop be reserved for Indigenous participants only.
