March 3, 2009 (11:30 am - 1:00 pm)
Location: Younkin Success Center 150
InterACT Diversity Players, through an interactive theatre piece, will perform scenarios encountered by women instructors in the classroom. The performance will address some of the issues that develop in classes where the content is specific to women and/or when the course is more likely to be dominated by one gender. The vignettes will also explore issues of gender and authority in the classroom that can lead to confrontational or disruptive behaviors.

Gone -- Out@Wex Film
March 3, 2009 (7:00 pm - 9:00 pm)
Location: Wexner Center
Gone: The Box
"Gone is loosely based on an episode of An American Family, a PBS series from the early 1970s that included one of the first openly gay characters on television-and foreshadowed the development and appeal of reality TV. Cecilia Dougherty's project also explores the complexities of family life, queer identity, and community, but inserts contemporary artists and writers (including Amy Sillman and Laurie Weeks) into the narrative. The video includes music by Le Tigre and Mike Iveson and was completed during a residency in the Art & Tech post-production studios in 2001. Dougherty lives and works in New York City and teaches at the Milton Avery Graduate School of the Arts at Bard College. (37 mins., video)" (www.wexarts.org)
