Gelli Ann Dayrit joined the Office of Student Life Multicultural Center in September 2017 as the Intercultural Specialist for Asian Pacific Islander Desi American (APIDA) Student Initiatives.

She was born in the Philippines and raised in Arvin, California since she was five-years-old. She defines herself by her identities which she has learned to appreciate, value, and love: Filipina woman, first-generation college student, and 1.5 generation immigrant.

Gelli Ann received her Bachelor of Science in Child Development from San Diego State University (SDSU). As an undergraduate, she was very involved with the College of Education and the greater San Diego community. Gelli Ann received her Master of Education in Postsecondary Administration and Student Affairs (PASA) from University of Southern University (USC). At USC, she served as the Graduate Assistant for two years in the Asian Pacific American Student Services (APASS), held leadership positions for the Asian Pacific Graduate Student Association and PASA Network, and was very involved with the first-generation college student community.

Through her personal experiences and storytelling, she has found a passion of advocating for the under-served and broadly represented student populations. She is also passionate about mental and physical wellness, in which she practices in her everyday life.
