Creating the Extraordinary Student Experience

Latino/Hispanic

Meet our Intercultural Specialist and liaison to Latino students, Indra Leyva.

Indra coordinates Hispanic Heritage Month, El Pueblo: The Latino First Year Cohort and Latinos Empowering Action and Perseverance (L.E.A.P) a wellness, leadership and community development program. Indra's programs focus on the most salient issues impacting the Latino community. The scope of these programs address the changing needs of Latinos in the local and national contexts, as well as the centralized context of the Ohio State campus community. Education programs are implemented with the support of professional staff and in partnership with the Latino faculty and Central Ohio Community Resources. Some of the education programs we offer are:

Latinos 101: Workshop about Latinos in the U.S. An interactive program that focuses in the diversity among Latinos, traditions, cultural heritage and identity.

OSUnidos panels: Series of panels on the Latino experience in OSU, statewide and nationally.

L.A.S.E.R. Lecture Series: Lecture series that bring scholars from across the nation to talk about their research.
