Welcome Week

Whether you are a new incoming student, returning for another year or transferring from another campus or university, The Student Life Multicultural Center Welcome Week Events are an excellent opportunity to start your year successfully with your Buckeye Community!

Each of these events aims to help you become more familiar with the resources that the MCC offers, learn about student organizations to get involved with, and highlight avenues for you to get connected to all that Ohio State has to offer. You belong here!

 

African American Family Reunion

Family affair reunion is a collaboration between the Student Life Multicultural Center and the Frank W. Hale Jr. Black Cultural Center along with other campus partners. A Family Affair and Reunion is a welcome week program that brings together student organizations, academic departments and local community organizations within the Black Ohio State community. The purpose of this event is to introduce first-year students and welcome returning students to resources, relationships and community designed to promote the success of black students attending Ohio State. APIDA Student Welcome

The Asian Pacific Islander Desi American (APIDA) Student Welcome introduces various student involvement opportunities and campus resources available for our APIDA community at Ohio State. Kick off the school year at our virtual APIDA Student Welcome by building a network of connections and getting involved in your APIDA community on campus! This year, APIDA Student Welcome will be held virtually on Zoom. We will be hosting a variety of Zoom rooms in lieu of booths, featuring numerous Asian-interest organizations. We will also be showcasing our community's talent through pre-recorded performances throughout the evening. 

 

Latinx Welcome (Virtual) Cookout

The Latinx Welcome Cookout is a celebration for the start of the school year with Ohio State’s Latino and Latin American communities. It is a great opportunity for new students, faculty and staff to get involved, make new friends, network and while enjoying free food and fun activities. While the Latinx Cookout will happen virtually this year, this is another opportunity for those who missed the Latino student organizations at the Involvement Fair.

  

LGBTQ Welcome Mix and Mingle

Come kick off the school year at the LGBTQ Welcome Back Mixer! This is event is for all LGBTQ first year, transfer and returning students! Here you will have the chance to learn about the LGBTQ+ resources on campus and in the Columbus community. The Mix and Mingle will be hosted on Zoom this year. Whether you're looking for a student organization to get involved in, want to meet new people or need help navigating Columbus, this fun event will provide the resources you need!

 

Native and Indigenous Welcome Gathering

Join the Ohio State Native Americanand Indigenous community for a welcome back event during Welcome Week! This is an opportunity to meet new and incoming students as well as learn more about NAISI programs and initiatives scheduled for the upcoming academic year. The Welcome Gathering is a great opportunity to begin to become familiar with your home away from home!

 

Women's Welcome (Virtual) Reception

The Student Life Multicultural Center's WomenStudent Initiatives (WSI) is excited towelcomenew and returning students to Ohio State! Start the school year the best way, by exploring the many new and exciting academic, social and leadership development opportunities available through WSI and its campus partners. The Women's Welcome Reception is open to all women-identified members of the Ohio State community and their allies.This gathering will include networking with Ohio State stakeholders that are focused on supporting women-identified folks or issues.
