This introductory ice climbing course is an experiential, field-based, excursion, focusing on the basic skills necessary to ascend ice chutes and frozen water falls. Skill progression, equipment selection, terminology, and potential risks are all introduced as foundational skills for ice climbing. Material will include knot tying, use of crampons and ice axes and risk management. We will be staying in a small cabin each night, taking in the campfire and majestic winter scenery.
