When Tarana Burke said “me too” to a 13-year-old girl in 1997 she sparked a movement and dedicated herself to providing resources and support for survivors of sexual harassment and assault. 20 years later #metoo was tweeted by Alyssa Milano in a viral tweet that brought “me too” into mainstream white America. Join the Student Life Multicultural Center with our panel of speakers to unpack #MeToo and whose voices are we not hearing as we tackle the issue of sexual violence in our communities.
Panelists: Dr. Jacquelyn Meshelmiah (Ohio State College of Social Work), Jeff Perkins (Student Life Multicultural Center-LGBTQ+ Student Initiatives), Jill Davis (SARNCO), Carmen Winant (Local Artist and Activist), Preshuslee Thompson (The Kirwan Institute), Bayan Shalash (Palestinian Women's Association)
Moderator: Allysa Johnson
